Nickelodeon NightsLights, Camera, Action!
The Acme Theater Comes To Lambertville, NJ
By Megan Wetzel

Saturday, April 12th, Lambertville, NJ celebrated the opening of the ACME Screening Room—a state-of-the-art film screening facility that will show classic, independent and family films.  The cinema was realized through the efforts of Lambertville’s mayor, David Delvecchio, and Sara Scully, producer of Lambertville’s NICKELODEON NIGHTS outdoor film series. The theater is located at 25 S. Union Street, Lambertville, NJ.

Community members celebrated the opening with popcorn, soda and candy served by volunteers working the cinema’s concession stand.  The candy was provided through a partnership with Lambertville’s The Chocolate Box.  Friends of Lambertville Library are the non-profit sponsor of the project with additional support from The Lambertville Recreation Commission, The Lambertville Library, and the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

“Lambertville is a City that supports the arts and a community that knows how to work together to make things happen,” said Sara Scully. “This project would not have been possible without the City’s vision and the tremendous community support we have received.”

The screening room seats fifty and features a 12-foot projection screen and a surround sound system.  Donations are always welcome and a $5.00 per ticket donation is suggested.  Typical cinema refreshments will be sold, so don’t forget the popcorn!

Films will be screened each weekend.  Upcoming shows include:

  • Saturday, August 2nd- Young At Heart (2008), 7:00pm & 9:00pm
  • Saturday, August 9th – Raising Arizona (1987), 7:00pm & 9:00pm

Saturday, August 16th 6-8:00pm is an outdoor show with Live Music by Jet Weston and His Atomic Ranch Hands and the Film Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973). This event is located at Ely Field, North Main Street.  Should it rain, please join the party in the ACME Screening Room! The outdoor film series is made possible with additional support from Mayor DelVecchio, The City of Lambertville, The Lambertville Recreation Commission and Lambertville’s youth sports leagues.  For more information please call (609)397 0275

Family and friends are encouraged to bring their own seats or picnic blankets to sit on while enjoying the outdoor films as they are projected on a giant sixteen-foot screen.  Just like any other movie experience, refreshments are sold, but the outdoor movie experience includes such treats as:  hamburgers, hotdogs, candy, popcorn and soda.  All money gained from the goodies will be raised for the film series and Lambertville’s youth sports programs.

We have indoor films at the ACME and also an outdoor film series. Membership and Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Go to the website for more informaiton www.nickelodeonnights.org.
